This significant extension and re-imagining of a modest 1960’s bungalow sits in an elevated position in an enclosed 1.7 acre garden on the Possingworth Estate in East Sussex.
The bungalow has been much altered and extended and is currently an unfortunate muddle.
The proposal is to extend at both ends of the building to add a new living room and study at one end and master bedroom suite and 5th bedroom at the other. Key rooms open to the elevated veranda which in turn is focused on the garden, stepping down via a further terrace onto the lawn.
We propose to re-clad and insulate the existing bungalow in order to present a clear uniform presence with the new extension. The cladding is a black stained timber with the veranda on the garden side lined in heat treated British soft wood, with the entrance lined in green tiles.
The roof is a black steel sinusoidal sheet to the pitched original surrounded by flat roofs finished in black EPDM rubber.
